On-street parking relief for Kensington

I was fortunate to move a motion last night which passed unanimously, to endorse in principle the introduction of time-limited parking in sections of Kensington that will be impacted by the Peregrine office tower development. The types of controls will be considered by Council in September, after consultation with local residents, schools and businesses. Several local residents and a business contacted me before the meeting supporting more on-street parking relief on our already crowded streets. One resident put it this way,

"While I do have off-street parking, it is my intention to age in place, and some restrictions would free up parking spaces for residents' visitors - so that retirees like myself may stay connected with visiting friends and family. I don't want to become socially isolated because I choose to live in a residential street that has continuing and increasing parking demands on it.  I hope the Council can take my thoughts into account as it decides ont he future of parking in this area."
