Residents may keep same level of representation

I voted in support of a proposal to keep the same level of representation for residents at the Special Meeting of Council held on 27 February. Every eight years councils are required to review their number of wards and councillors for efficiency and to ensure that the ratio of residents to councillors is well balanced across wards. Community feedback to me and to Council indicated that residents wanted more access to their representatives and not less.  In my statement, I said that we need to make sure that running for Council remains affordable and accessible to all, not just the wealthy or people who have support of political parties.
